Firm History

From 1998 to 2004 IA Clarington Investment Inc.’s Private Wealth Divison existed under
the name of BLC Edmond de Rothschild, which was a partnership between Laurential
Bank of Canada and Edmond de Rothschild out of France. The company was purchased
by Industrial Alliance Insurance & Financial Services Inc. in late 2004 and became part of
IA Clarington in 2006. IA Clarington Investments Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of
Industrial Alliance.

Investment Philosophy

The Private Wealth Division makes its services available to individuals having assets of
$250,000 or more. Our investment philosophy is based on protecting our clients’ assets
therefore our portfolio managers concentrate on the preservation of capital together with
our clients’ needs for long-term capital appreciation and income. Medium to long-term
growth potential is realized with consistent dividends and income, and a customized
portfolio that offers low turnover. Security selection focuses on high quality large
capitalized income yielding securities using a bottom-up investment process.

Reporting & Communication with Clients

Monthly statements are mailed to clients from both our custodian and from IA
Clarington. This ensures that clients have the necessary reporting to view their
portfolios on a regular basis and from two different sources. In addition to the monthly
statements, our philosophy is to discuss with clients through either personal meetings or
telephone contacts at a minimum semi-annually.
